Veres Picton & Co. LLP | Edmonton Chartered Accountants - casb, ufe, CA

With the implementation of the Chartered Accountant School of Business (CASB) in 2001, time demands and responsibilities have increased exponentially for articling students who wish to obtain their CA designation. To address this, Veres Picton & Co. has established a solid support base for CASB students to facilitate them in their pursuit to successfully pass all six modules and the Uniform Final Exam.

  • CASB students at Veres Picton & Co. have an opportunity to thrive in a team atmosphere that exists not only for those who are completing the same weekly tasks, but also extends to those who have previously progressed successfully through the modules.
  • In addition, an open-door environment allows CASB students direct access to CA’s, CMA’s and CGA’s, all who possess both the technical expertise and real-world experience that CASB demands in its weekly tasks and final case exams.
  • Our firm has established a mentor program that assigns each student a manager and partner as mentors. These individuals are dedicated resources for our students when they need guidance or assistance on matters related to their career development.
  • “Lunch and Learns” - This is an ongoing opportunity for our students to gain knowledge through the experience of the managers and partners in the firm. Indeed, CASB students at Veres Picton & Co. LLP find that their most important resources are not textbooks or reference materials; instead, it is the knowledge and experience shared by their peers and managers.

Another advantage our CASB students have is the opportunity to complete an entire job from the initial entry of the client’s trial balance to the completion of every section of the file. Seeing how every component of the financial statement relates to the client’s objectives allows our students to gain a crucial perspective on how the issues specific to every client integrate with each other. This perspective proves to be invaluable time and time again as our students challenge the modules, the face-to-face information sessions, and the Uniform Final Exam.

The success of CASB students at our firm indicates the value of these available resources. Since CASB inception, every student from Veres Picton & Co. who has completed the program has been successful on their first attempt.
